Designer Karel Willemen: “A lot of work is being done on the magical city of Raveleijn. On December 1, the city gates will open and the entire themed area will be accessible. From the renovated stands, you can enjoy the brand new parkshow several times a day, packed with spectacular stunts. And whether you're hungry or thirsty early in the morning or only later in the afternoon, you can visit the Inn De Verslaeghen Draek all day long. The nicest souvenirs can be found in the new shop In den Ravenkorf. And for those who dare, there's the new attraction Ravenring: a flight ritual where everyone's bravery is put to the test.”

It’s been ten years since Olaf Grafhart and his mechanical monster Draconicon were defeated by the five Ruyters. To keep Raveleijn safe in the future, new heroes are always needed. That’s why you’ll find the new family attraction Ravenring at the camp just outside the city walls. A painted wooden sign shows that the ancient Raven ritual takes place here:

Which magical element is your secret power?

Junior designer Job van Rijen: “Ravenring is a horizontally rotating wheel where you sit in one of eighteen winged vehicles. Each ride fits 36 visitors. The scale model really shows how the atmosphere of Raveleijn will soon come to life. Just look at the rough woodwork and the hand-forged steel with tiny details. On top of the wheel sits a huge golden medallion with the stylized shape of a raven. Like a large weather vane, it turns along with the ride. It’s Halina’s medallion, who is the city’s protector.”

Job continues: “The gondolas are inspired by the ravens from Raveleijn. You can see this in the wooden wings and the decorative raven head. The larger wheels help tilt the gondola so it can swing outward. During the flight, which takes about a minute and a half, you reach a height of up to five meters! Are you really brave? Try moving the lever between the seats to make your winged vehicle fly even more steeply! When we tried out the test setup at the Dutch supplier Vekoma, Karel had to search for a bit of extra courage for this.”

The ride is also suitable for disabled guests; a transfer is required for this. Thanks to the SafeStrap, guests with a prosthetic leg can also sit in the gondola.

Karel: “After your flight on Ravenring, you'll find out which of the five magic elements suits you best: blue for water, red for fire, green for wood, brown for earth, and purple for metal. You'll see those colors and elements again on the proudly waving banners near the queue and around the attraction.”
