Mobility scooter rental conditions

- The Efteling is at all times entitled to cancel a booking (without providing a reason).
- User to confirm he/she is over the age of 16, can provide valid proof of identity and a valid Efteling facility card. Only the User can collect and use the mobility scooter.
- Rental of the mobility scooter must be paid for upon collection. In the event that User returns the mobility scooter earlier than the official closing time, the agreed rental price shall still apply.
- User confirms that he/she has sufficient knowledge and experience driving a mobility scooter to operate it properly and responsibly. If required, a designated Efteling employee can explain how the mobility scooter works and allow the User to take a short test drive before commencing the rental period. If the user decides not to rent the mobility scooter during or immediately after the test drive, a refund may be issued.
- User to confirm that they received the mobility scooter, keys and any accessories in good condition. If the User has pre-booked the mobility scooter online and upon receipt, it is found not to be in good condition, User must inform the Efteling before using it. Additionally, an Efteling employee will complete a damages form together with the User, highlighting any damage that may have occurred prior to the rental period. At the end of the rental period, the mobility scooter must be returned in the same
condition as at the start of the rental period. The Efteling is entitled to compensation if the above is found not to be the case. - It is not permitted to ride the mobility scooter with more than one person. This means that children are not allowed to sit on your lap or hang onto the mobility scooter.
- It is not permitted to drive the mobility scooter under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- User to acknowledge that they are familiar with and will comply with the applicable traffic rules and maximum speed of the mobility scooter, which is 5 km per hour.
- When parking the mobility scooter (and/or leaving it unattended), the User is required to lock it in accordance with Efteling’s instructions.
- The mobility scooter can be returned up to 1 hour after the official closing time of the park (unless otherwise agreed in advance). If the mobility scooter is returned late, a surcharge will apply. For the first 30 minutes late, User will pay a €10.00 surcharge, and €10.00 thereafter for each hour that the mobility scooter is returned late.
- The mobility scooter, keys and any accessories provided can only be returned to the Cloakroom & Rental Building or to the Efteling accommodation where the User is staying. User is fully liable for the loss of the mobility scooter, charger, accessories and/or keys. If the key and/or charger is lost, the User will be charged €150.00.
- Failure to return the mobility scooter will result in a report of theft to the police. In that case, the Efteling is entitled to charge the User the replacement value of the mobility scooter.
- When the mobility scooter is returned, the Efteling has the right to check the mobility scooter for damage incurred during the User’s rental period. If damage is caused to the mobility scooter, to third parties or to objects during the User’s rental period, or if an accident occurs (personal injury, whether or not to third parties), this must be reported to the Efteling as soon as possible. The Efteling is not liable for damage and/or injury caused during the rental period by the User and/or third parties due to improper use. Responsibility and liability for this lies entirely with the User.
- When returning the mobility scooter, the User must immediately report any (hidden) damage or defects that were not known to the Efteling and/or the User in advance.
- The Efteling only holds third-party liability insurance for the mobility scooters. User acknowledges that no other insurance has been taken out for the mobility scooter, such as insurance against damage to or theft of the mobility scooter and/or accessories and agrees to this limited insurance cover with excess. User acknowledges that they are liable for all damage caused to the mobility scooter and/or (property of ) third parties, whether caused by negligence, carelessness, fault or intent during the use of the mobility scooter.
- User is responsible for any fines, payments and administrative penalties resulting from incorrect use of the mobility scooter. In the event of violations, fines or damage, whether or not caused by the User, the User is obliged to notify the Efteling as soon as possible and (if requested) to confirm this in writing.
- In the event of a defect in the mobility scooter, the User must immediately inform the Efteling (by telephone) of the nature of the defect and their location. If it is not possible to continue driving, the Efteling will do its best to arrange a replacement mobility scooter (as long as a replacement is available). If a defect has been caused by someone other than the User and no replacement mobility scooter is available, the User is entitled to a refund of part of the rental fee.
- It is at all times User’s responsibility to compensate for all damages caused by irresponsible driving behaviour. This also applies in the event of non-compliance with the Road Traffic Act, vandalism, abuse and/or misuse of the mobility scooter. If damage occurs during the rental period but is caused by the use of the mobility scooter by someone other than the User, the User is fully liable for all costs related to the damage.
- The mobility scooter is fitted with tracking software. User consents to this being activated if: The mobility scooter is not returned, to find out where the mobility scooter is at that time, or to collect anonymous general user data for quality purposes.
- If the above items are not complied with or accepted, the Efteling may immediately retrieve the mobility scooter without refunding the rental fee.
