New Aquanura show premieres at Efteling

Efteling - the fairytale theme park in the south of Holland – has launched a new edition of its popular water and light show, Aquanura, entitled: 'Aquanura, met een zachte G - typical Dutch edition’.

In this 12-minute water show, Dutch singer Guus Meeuwis' greatest hits are interspersed with recognisable Efteling melodies. Efteling decided to honour Guus Meeuwis for his 25th anniversary as an artist with this special show, which can be seen every evening until 15 November. Although there was no audience present at the premiere last night (8 October), the party could still be enjoyed live via regional broadcaster Omroep Brabant and on Efteling’s social channels. It meant that, despite Covid-19 restrictions, Efteling fans and employees were still able to enjoy this special show.

‘Aquanura, met een zachte G' is suitable for all Efteling guests, including international visitors. Although the show is sung in Dutch, the interplay of the fountains, the light and the melodies will enchant everyone.

Guus was accompanied by his wife and Wim van de Donk, former King's Commissioner and good friend. To begin, Efteling inhabitant Princess Anura – from the fairytale ‘The Frog King’ on which Aquanura is based - performed a song to the guests under a spotlight. Guus then started the show by placing a golden ball into a font.

Visibly impressed Guus thanked Eftelings’ CEO Fons Jurgens,: “It was really overwhelming! Of course I was involved in the design of this show beforehand, but to see and hear it in real life is great, so special. The fact that this will now be on show every evening for so many visitors is really quite an honour”.

The new Aquanura show is titled 'Aquanura, met een zachte G – typical Dutch edition' a reference to the successful concert series 'Groots met een zachte G' by Guus Meeuwis. This year, he would have given stadium concerts for the 15th consecutive year. Despite the fact that the year 2020 for both Guus and Efteling is going very differently than planned, both are very happy that this special collaboration could go still go ahead and encourage visitors to come and experience Efteling and the new show this autumn.

In 2012 Aquanura opened in Efteling to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the park. The show is an ode to the Frog Kings’ fountain in the heart of the Fairytale Forest. Based on the fairytale ‘The Frog King’, it was one of the original ten fairytales in the Fairytale Forest when it opened in 1952. Aquanura is Europe's largest water show, in which more than 200 fountains and 900 lights treat visitors to a 12-minute show full of Efteling music. In the past, Efteling has worked with DJ Tiësto to develop a special show.
