Efteling attraction Danse Macabre will open in 2024

New themed park area becomes creepier than ever

The new 17,000 m² themed park area and attraction in Efteling theme park in the South of Holland will be creepy and terrifying. In the Danse Macabre attraction, named after the famous piece of music by Saint-Saëns, visitors will be transported into the story with the unforgettable music from the Spookslot Haunted House as the main theme. The surroundings are a mysterious setting in which the 20-metre high attraction building immediately catches the eye. The themed area and attraction will open in 2024.

Efteling designer Jeroen Verheij explains: "For Danse Macabre, I was inspired by the original sketches and ideas for the Spookslot Haunted House, among other things. It is of course a great honour and a challenge to be able to think up something suitable for such a historic place. The attentive visitor may see some familiar elements in the future. But it will be all new: we will completely immerse visitors and they will experience the 'Danse Macabre' like never before. We will keep the creepy theme and extend it through all the details in the themed area."

After summer 2022, the Spookslot Haunted House will make way for the themed area with the attraction, catering, retail and entertainment. Of course, Efteling will bid farewell to the Spookslot, together with its visitors, in a respectful manner.
