Efteling’s dark ride, Symbolica, reaches its highest construction point

The Dutch theme park Efteling, located in the south of Holland, is thrilled to announce that its brand new dark ride, ‘Symbolica: Palace of Fantasy’, has reached its highest point in construction on 31 August. An incredible amount of work has been carried out on Efteling’s latest indoor family attraction over the past few months. The base of the palace is made with steel weighing 300,000kg. Following the steel construction, concrete mats, netting and plastering were installed. In total there will be 8 towers built on the palace roof, the largest of those weighing 16,000kg and reaching a height of over 10m. The highest point, at almost 30m, was reached by revealing the spire on the tallest tower. This was achieved under the supervision of Efteling’s main contractor and the building team, as well as contractors Heijmans, Hoppenbrouwers, Gubbels, ETF Ride Systems and Allround Dakexpert. Now that the steeple has been revealed the main focus will be on completing the outside facades and the interior.

Symbolica: Palace of Fantasy
In the summer of 2017 Visitors are invited to rediscover their imagination on an adventure through the magical, hidden rooms of Symbolica: Palace of Fantasy. Symbolica will be an indoor attraction for the whole family, similar to other famous attractions such as Droomvlucht, Fata Morgana and Carnaval Festival. The dark ride will revolve around the interacting elements of reality, dreams and fantasy. A maximum of six people will step into a carriage and then choose one of three different routes. Each route will offer a different adventure with interactive elements through the Palace of Fantasy.
