Efteling’s Aquanura water show gains international recognition

Efteling was named as the winner of the TEA Award for Outstanding Achievement in the United States on Tuesday evening (13 November). The theme park received the award for its Aquanura water show, which opened on 31 May in honour of the park’s 60th anniversary. This prestigious award for outstanding quality and innovative projects in (theme) parks is handed out once a year by TEA (Themed Entertainment Association), the international association of designers and developers of attractions and themed locations. The official award ceremony will take place in April Anaheim, California.

Representatives from the entertainment sector congregated in Orlando, Florida, this week for the annual meeting of the IAAPA, the umbrella organisation for (theme) parks worldwide. Speaking from the , Efteling’s Chairman and CEO, Bart de Boer, reacted enthusiastically to the news:

In its report, the jury drew attention to the way in which Aquanura adapts existing technology and puts it to use in ways that are uniquely evocative. Artistry and beauty take precedence over spectacle, bringing emotionally engaging stories to life.

TEA Awards
Efteling has twice previously been the recipient of a TEA Award. In 1997, the Villa Volta (Madhouse) attraction received the TEA Award for Outstanding Achievement, due to its innovative concept and technical realisation. Meanwhile, in 2004, Efteling was named as the winner of the TEA Classic Award, in recognition of its successful history dating back more than 50 years.
