Efteling opens new self-service catering point in the themed area around Danse Macabre

The themed area around the new attraction Danse Macabre is still in development, but Efteling visitors will soon be able to sample the atmosphere of the Huyverwoud Forest. On 1 July, the catering establishment In den Swarte Kat and bathroom facility De Laetste Hoop will open. The themed area around Danse Macabre will form the creepiest part of the Efteling from 2024 onwards.

Theming
In den Swarte Kat is one of the catering facilities in the new themed area surrounding the Danse Macabre attraction. Here, Efteling is launching a new to the theme park catering concept where guests can buy products via self-serve counters. At the catering point, guests can purchase themed products such as Ketelkoek, Abbey Bread and Blood juice. Guests can take away their refreshments or enjoy them on the terrace.

The interior and exterior of In den Swarte Kat have many themed details.  The story behind this catering point is that the Charlatan Family, the entertainment of the themed area, used this former tavern as a grocery shop. In den Swarte Kat appears to be burnt down, partially collapsed, and is filled with creepy elements. And like the bathroom facility De Laetste Hoop, it is haunted at times…

Huyverwoud Forest themed area
The 17,000m2 themed area will be a mysterious setting with catering, retail, entertainment, and the 20-metre-high Danse Macabre attraction building. This haunted spectacle full of dark twists will soon have visitors dancing to the music of the musical piece of the same name. Danse Macabre's spectacular ride system is unique worldwide and will debut at the Efteling in 2024.
