Efteling launches virtual tour of the enchanting Fairytale Forest

Transformation into Winter Wonderland almost ready

Efteling – the fairytale theme park in the south of Holland – is adding an exclusive atmospheric tour of its Fairytale Forest to its YouTube channel, allowing fans from all over the world to experience the magic of the park’s most famous landmark.

On Thursday 19 November, Efteling will re-open its gates to visitors following a second two-week lockdown. Just as many have been using lockdown 2.0 to get their lights and decorations ready for the festive season, a transformation has been taking place at Efteling during its two-week closure.

The theme park will re-open as Winter Efteling, ready to welcome back visitors with winter decorations and warming bonfires. Efteling’s recognisable inhabitant Langnek is wearing his earmuffs, atmospheric lanterns have been hung up and thousands of fairy lights are twinkling on the trees.

Efteling has also used the closure to record exclusive footage in the Fairytale Forest for the Efteling YouTube channel to enable fans to virtually experience Efteling from their homes. The virtual visit to the Fairytale Forest can be seen here: www.youtube.com/efteling

Virtual walk through of the Fairytale Forest

"Our staff have worked very hard to ensure that the attractions, paths and squares are neat and tidy, along with the extra safety precautions, which have been adapted for the winter. For those that can’t visit the park straight away, we have also recorded exclusive footage to bring the magic of Efteling into their homes with beautiful images from the Fairytale Forest," says Koen Sanders, Director of Commerce, Creation & Development.

During the approximately 30 minute virtual walk through the Fairytale Forest, viewers will be able to see the winter details and decorations that have been added to the various scenes in preparation for Winter Efteling.

Warme Winter Weide winter garden

Now in its 22nd year, Winter Efteling emphasises the theme park’s year-round offering when it is transformed into an enchanting winter experience. New this year is the Warme Winter Weide winter garden: an open-air section within the park featuring (partly covered) seating, catering, stalls and live entertainment. There will also be bonfires where visitors can warm up while enjoying a snack and a drink.

A visit to Winter Efteling has to be booked in advance with reservations opening from 19 October on efteling.com.
