Aquanura construction begins

Fountain-show attraction marks Efteling’s 60th anniversary

During the past week, construction of Efteling’s new anniversary attraction received the official go-ahead, following the contract signing by the theme park and Aquanura’s partner: WET (Water Entertainment Technologies) of the United States. The contract signing launches a collaboration that, in less than a year’s time, will result in ’s largest fountain show. Efteling is investing € 17 million in this spectacular water show, which features the elements of water, fire, music and light.

The anniversary show will be a magical and sensational water ballet, lasting around 10 minutes. In the future, Aquanura will also stage various other water shows on the Vonderplas boating lake.

Bart de Boer, Efteling’s President & Chief Executive Officer, reacts enthusiastically to the commencement of the collaboration:

“Efteling’s 60th anniversary is a milestone that we would like to celebrate with an anniversary attraction; one which visitors can watch and enjoy at the end of their day at Efteling. For the past 59 years, Efteling has stood as a guarantor of treasured childhood memories and, in Aquanura, we’re adding yet another stunning memory to the long list.”
Bart de Boer, President and CEO Efteling

Aquanura’s partner, WET, is a pioneer in the field of water-show design and technology with many previous projects to its name, including the Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas (USA) and the Dubai Fountain in the Middle East. WET’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mark Fuller, is looking forward to the project:

“Together with Efteling, in just under a year’s time, we will realise one of the three largest fountain shows in the world. The thematic touch that Efteling brings to the design is unprecedented for us. We are thrilled to be a part of this historic moment.”
