• Efteling hosts a year-long celebration of its 60th anniversary In 2012, Efteling celebrates its 60th anniversary. What began in 1952 as a Fairytale Forest wit 10 fairytale scenes has grown to become the third largest theme park in Europe, with its own accomodation, a golf course, media and theatre productions, and even an entire 'imaginary' world outside the park's borders. • Efteling production nominated for prestigious international children’s media award Last week, the unique production 'Fairytales of Mr Sandman' was nominated by the international institute and trade journal KidScreen for an award in the category of 'Best non-animated or mixed series pre-school'. • Efteling opens 365 days a year From 1 April onwards, Efteling will be open every day of the year. For the first time in the theme park’s 58-year history, it will no longer close after the autumn or winter holidays, but will remain open all year round. The decision for year-round opening was influenced by the increasing number of visitors to the World of Wonders in recent years, the success of the Winter Efteling and the realisation of the new holiday park, Efteling Village Bosrijk. • Efteling Village Bosrijk officially open This evening saw the official opening of the gateway into Efteling Village Bosrijk, a new holiday park right next to the theme park in Kaatsheuvel. A fairytale firework display greeted around 1,000 guests who are combining their stay with a few days visiting Winter Efteling. Woodland Cottages, Village Cottages and apartments have been built in typical Efteling style on the edge of the dunes of the Loonse en Drunense Duinen national park. Read more
