The Efteling has been welcoming visitors to its World of Wonders for almost 60 years. Today, Efteling is proud to be an international leader in the tourism and recreation industry. Efteling has been entertaining its visitors since the opening of the Fairytale Forest in 1952, and continues to surprise them with new and exciting attractions and entertainment. Fairy tales have been a central theme ever since the very beginning and continue to be so. The Efteling has a reputation as a highly-professional, creative and efficient organisation which has been achieved through continued dedication to customer-oriented and customer-friendly products and services.
In its role as ‘custodian of the fairy tale’, the Efteling believes in the importance of preserving and promoting our cultural heritage. The Efteling also believes in the protection of the environment and plays an active and innovative role in the careful planning of its natural landscapes and parks. This counts for the theme park as much as it does for the new Efteling Village Bosrijk holiday park and the Efteling Golf Park with all of its rich flora and fauna.

Efteling is a limited company (B.V.). The Efteling Nature Park Foundation is its sole owner and only shareholder. Efteling B.V.'s executive board is made up of two directors, who are assisted by a supervisory board. In addition to the executive board the company has three functional directors who are in charge of the various departments: Imagineering, Finance, Commerce and Operations. Within this organisational structure there is plenty of scope for responsibility and professional and creative development.
Efteling was opened by the Efteling Nature Park Foundation (ENPF) in the Dutch town of Kaatsheuvel 1952. The ENPF was formed from an earlier organisation, the Sport Park Foundation (established in 1937), and is still the owner and only shareholder today. The ENPF’s goal is to provide and maintain the park’s recreational facilities as well as the promotion of leisure and tourism. As sole shareholder, the ENPF has a say in any decisions concerning the Efteling B.V.’s long-term vision. In the Annual General Shareholder’s Meeting, it is the ENPF’s task to approve the yearly accounts, set company dividends and discharge the supervisory board and the executive board of responsibility in respect of their supervision and management. In addition, the Efteling Nature Park Foundation supports socially-responsible and environmentally-responsible projects, such as Villa Pardoes.
The future has plenty in store for the Efteling. The park is working towards implementing all-year-round opening, whilst other new initiatives include Efteling Bosrijk Village holiday park, that opens in December 2009; plans for conference centre ´de Burght´; and entertainment and dining complex ‘Raveleijn’.
